Bank OZK, one of the nation’s top-performing regional banks, marked another milestone on June 10, 2026, with the grand opening of its newest branch in Alpharetta, Georgia. The celebration featured ribbon-cutting ceremonies, refreshments, and giveaways as community members and bank officials gathered to welcome the new location.
A Legacy Rooted in Arkansas
Bank OZK’s history stretches back to 1903, when it was established as a small community bank in Jasper, Arkansas. The institution’s modern chapter began in 1979, when 25-year-old attorney George Gleason purchased what was then Bank of Ozark. At the time, the bank had just two branches, 28 employees, and $28 million in assets. ozk.com
Under Gleason’s leadership, the bank grew into a financial powerhouse. On May 7, 2018, it officially rebranded from Bank of the Ozarks to Bank OZK a shorter, modern name reflecting its expanded national presence.
